Junior Oilers White Players Compete at National Women’s U18 Championship

Prior to taking to the ice as part of Team Canada, the next generation of women's hockey stars makes their debut on the national stage in the National Women's Under-18 Championship, competing for the coveted gold medal and the honor of national recognition. Eight provincial and regional teams, including Alberta, Atlantic, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario Blue, Ontario Red, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, come together for this prestigious national championship, engaging in an intense five-games-in-five-day quest for the championship title.

We take immense pride in the representation of our three talented players from Hockey Edmonton's Junior Oilers White team: Claire Carruthers, Ella Lloyd, and Layla Matthew. They are currently donning the Team Alberta jersey at the 2023 National Women's Under-18 Championship.

Matthew has already made a commitment to join Clarkson University's NCAA Division I hockey team for the 2025-26 season, while Lloyd is set to take her talents to Northeastern University's NCAA Division I team in the same season.
