Become a Junior Oilers White Billet

The Junior Oilers White, Canada’s reigning National Champions, are in urgent need of billet families for the 2025-26 season. We’re looking for kind-hearted homes to host our incredible all-girl players, ages 15–17, as they chase their hockey dreams.

You don’t need to be a hockey fan — just someone willing to provide a safe, welcoming space. Whether you're a family of five, an empty nester, or anything in between, you can make a meaningful difference.

These athletes balance high-level hockey with school and community involvement. By opening your home, you're giving them the chance to succeed both on and off the ice.

Be part of their journey. Apply to become a billet family today!

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a billet family?

A billet family provides a player's home-away-from-home during the hockey season. Players live with host families and quickly become part of the family, serving as excellent role models for their billet siblings.

Are billet families paid?

Billet families will receive $500 a month to help with additional household expenses, especially food and drink.

Is there a prototypical billet family?

No. Billet families come in many forms, including two-parent families, single-parent families, empty nesters, and professional couples. The common thread is a desire to make a difference in a player's life. Often, our players will take on the role of big brother or mentor to their billet siblings.

Can a family host more than one player?

Yes. Two or more players can share transportation expenses and often enjoy each other's company. The only requirement is that each player has adequate living arrangements, including their own bed and a closet or dresser.

How long does a player stay?

The hockey season runs from October to February, with tryouts beginning in September and playoffs, provincials, and nationals extending into March or April. Since our players are high school students, they typically arrive in mid-August and may stay until the end of their school year semester to ensure continuity in their studies.

Will players join your family for personal events?

You are welcome to include players in your family celebrations or activities, but it is not mandatory. All our players will have time off during the winter holidays.

Are there guidelines and communication supplied by the Junior Oilers to assist our family in the process of hosting a player?

Our Junior Oilers White Director, Deb, is available by phone or email throughout the season to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have. She will also act as a liaison to the team management. At the beginning of each season, a meeting will be held between the players, billet families, Deb, and team management to review our billeting guidelines and the responsibilities of both players and billet families.

Will players be left home alone if we leave on a vacation?

No, when host families are away, players will be temporarily moved to other billet families' homes.

Do I have to live in Edmonton to billet?

No! The Junior Oilers White team is part of the greater Edmonton community and have had billets in the suburbs and outlying areas around Edmonton in the past.
